Brian Shaw

Brian Shaw is NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey Rocky Mountain Regional Advisor. He began his career at NGS in 2002 and has a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Geographic Information Systems and he emphasizes how surveying and GIS depend on geodesy as a frame of reference for location and is the foundation of positioning. One of his primary duties is educating geodetic and geospatial professionals about the importance of datums and how they are critical to consistent coordinates, especially when aligning and comparing disparate data for making important decisions.

Eric Spangenberg

Eric Spangenberg is the GIS Coordinator for Lewis & Clark County and the City of Helena, where he oversees the enterprise GIS program and manages the development and integration of spatial data and mapping applications across local government departments. He also serves as an adjunct instructor at Carroll College, teaching GIS courses focused on applied geospatial analysis. In addition to his county leadership role, he serves on the Montana Geospatial Information Advisory Council, contributing to statewide coordination of geospatial data and policy.
