About me
Meghan Burns is a GIS Analyst and the MSDI Administrative Boundary Theme Steward within the Water Information Team at the Montana State Library, where she also works on MSDI Elevation, Hydrology, Hydrologic Units, Imagery, and Soils. Her most recent project is PM on the MSL Web GIS Web Redesign Project, which is part of the Strategic Plan adopting in 2023. Formerly she worked was employed as the GIS Manager of the Montana Department of Military Affairs. Prior to that she was a Landscape Ecologist with the Montana Natural Heritage Program. She got her start in GIS as a volunteer and then GIS Tech with the Michigan Natural Features Inventory. And has worked in GIS at a local county government as well as at Michigan State University.
Meghan has been a MAGIP member since 2008. She served on the MAGIP Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large/Secretary (2011-2013) and a three-year term as the Vice President, President, and Past President (2013-2016). She was the Web Sub-Committee Chair / Web Administrator from 2016-2024 and is currently serving a 2-year term on the MAGIP Board as the MAGIP Web Administrator (2024-2026). Meghan holds an M.S. in GIScience from Michigan State University. GO STATE!
